Girls Soccer: The middle school girls soccer league is a wrap. Props to the Minute(wo)men for defending their conference crown with another undefeated season. A very special commendation to all girls who competed on all teams. The time, effort, and commitment they invested in TEAM has given them valuable life skills. Happy trails to departing eighth graders headed to high schools. Scores and standings are provided by conference webkeeper, Allison G. of NMS.

Mighty Mariner Machine Keeps Rolling: The ECHS football team continues its winning ways by defeating Pamlico and Jones on successive weeks. The Mighty Mariners move to 7-1 on the year.

Fall Sports Round-up: High school fall sports include soccer, volleyball, tennis, cross country and golf. Several teams are making some headway down the homestretch. Keep your eyes on ECHS volleyball (13-5), CHS volleyball (12-5), CHS Cross Country, and WCHS Cross Country. Several other county teams are around the .500 mark and could make some gains in the playoffs.

The Right Stuff: Miss Hayley Mason, a senior at ECHS, is this week’s WCTI-TV12 Student Athlete of the Week. Hayley has been able to achieve a 4.47 GPA while starting in three sports: Volleyball, Basketball & Softball. She is the Senior Class Vice President, secretary of the Beta club, and a member of SADD and Interact Clubs. Hayley is East Carteret’s nominee for the Morehead Scholarship and the Wendy’s Heisman Scholarship . . . and is the senior class rep for Homecoming!

She’s currently applying to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and plans to major in Business.

Kudos to Hayley, her family, and her school.

Middle School Gridiron Report: With only two weeks to go in the middle school football season, undefeated MCMS is in first place. NMS and PMS (Pamlico) are battling it out for second. Those two teams will square off in the last game of the season (10/25), which promises to be a thriller.

Scores and standings are provided by conference webkeeper, Allison G. of NMS.
