We are thankful for middle school sports. The volleyball season is a wrap. Though final scores and decisions have yet to be made, three teams (PMS, DE, and MMS) are locked in a battle at the top. The magical season ended last night for the Croatan soccer team as they where dismissed from the playoffs by perennial powerhouse Swansboro, 6-1. Croatan squeaked into the playoffs after a .500 season. Then, they bounced two higher seeds on their way to last night’s Elite 8 matchup against the Pirates. Hats off to the boys from the ‘Tan for a job well done this season. With only 3 seniors on the this year’s squad and a strong feeder system, Cougar soccer is on the rise!
East Carteret Mariners Head Down Playoff Trail
This Friday night, the #2 seed Mariners face a tough Midway team in the opening round of the state 1AA Playoffs. The Mariners will be at home and welcome the support of all county football fans. Hear Coach Kiefer’s comments on the game in his latest CoachCast.
Middle School Roundup
Pamlico volleyball is beginning to pull away from the pack. However, Down East, Morehead Middle, and Broad Creek are nipping at their heels. Boy’s soccer is underway. Allison G of NMS is doing a great job of maintaining score, schedules, and standings. Check by early and often…

Playoffs: East Carteret Football and Croatan Soccer

Is there a glass slipper for the Croatan soccer team? They defeated South Brunswick 1-0 to advance to the elite 8 in the 2A East bracket. Next game at Swansboro (6:00pm Wednesday).

This Friday night, all three county varsity football teams wrap up regular season play. The Mighty Mariners are well-positioned for a playoff run. Hear the new CoachCasts from Coaches Kiefer, Turner and Perry.
Post-Season Soccer
Croatan is still in it with a 3-2 OT victory over #2 seed South Lenoir. They face #1 seed South Brunswick on Saturday night. West Carteret fell to West Brunswick 2-1 to end their season.

Middle School Volleyball
Defending champs The Down East Dolphins have picked up where they left off last season. They were the only county team to come out of the first week of play unscathed. However, they lost a nail-biter to Morehead Middle on Thursday. Pamlico Middle remains unbeaten. Keep up with the scores and standings provided by conference webkeeper, Allison G. of NMS.
