Physicality

August 18, 2007 at 5:58 am | In High, Middle | No Comments

August 16-17, fifty-three middle and high school coaches from our system participated in Coaches Education Workshops sponsored by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association and TMX Shipping. The event was held at the Crystal Coast Civic Center.

The A-team workshop facilitators were Mark Dreibelbis of NCHSSA, retired New Hanover County AD Mike Brown, and retired Martin County AD P. J. Taylor.

These workshops were not about X’s and O’s. Rather, they were about doing what is right for our students who commit to participating in interscholastic athletics. The interactive workshop content included mentoring, personal coaching objectives, team building, vision building, communication and effectiveness, ethics, “Why Coaching is Hard,” and risk management.

The workshop evaluations were off the chart. And where would we be without a photo essay of the first Carteret County Coaches Education Workshop?

Of course, we would be remiss not to create a motivational poster from the event.

Bonus Feature:  Middle School Coaches Group Photo.

(Special thanks to Kemp Ewing, EHCS football coach, for coining the term “physicality.”)
