Sports Report from the Croatan Diamond

The Croatan JV baseball team improved its record to 7 wins and 0 losses with a 4 to 1 victory over South Lenoir Tuesday afternoon.  Sophomore Aaron Stull pitched a complete game scattering 3 hits while striking out 13.  Stull, in picking up his 3rd victory of the season, did not walk a batter.

Ryan Cranmer, freshman shortstop, led the Cougar attack with 4 hits, including a triple.  Brandon Fulford and Matt Stewart each contributed 2 hits, as the Cougars totaled 13 hits.

The Cougars jumped on South Lenoir scoring 2 runs in the first inning and another run in the 2nd inning.  South Lenoir’s lone run was unearned.

Croatan JVs play non-conference foe White Oak on Wednesday and then return home for a conference game against rival Swansboro.

Border Clash: Sure, the Mighty Mariners proved victorious in the “Cross County Clash.” But now the Cougars and Patriots are looking for respect as they both cross the borders to battle Swansboro and Havelock, respectively. The Long and Winding Path: Still unclear how W-L records are reported in Cross Country, but the WCHS Patriot Boys and Girls Cross Country have a combined record of 37-7. The storied tradition continues…

Net Gain: Keep an eye on Croatan Cougar Volleyball. The varsity is posting a 10-4 record so far this season, lime green socks notwithstanding.

Middle School Gridiron: NMS, MMS and Downeast all posted victories in the first week of conference play.
